The State Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs Hon Kabuye Kyofatogabye has urged journalists to stick to professionalism as they do their work saying that it will help in promoting positivity and transparency in the country.
Speaking as the Chief guest at the 13th Graduation for UMCAT school of journalism and Mass communication, Hon Kyofatogabye reveals that these days some journalists no longer consider principles of this profession and they end up creating negativity among citizens.
He adds that, the negativity created among citizens promotes hatred therefore journalists should be careful as they take on their role of informing the public.
However he encouraged students to continue being disciplined adding that papers only can’t enable one to succeed.
On his part, the Director UMCAT school of Journalism and Mass communication Charles Ogwel asked government to avail more incentives purposely to boost the journalism profession such as engaging journalists in several plans saying that it will help in developing this sector.
The graduation Ceremony was held from UMCAT Kampala branch on 10th December where two hundred thirty seven students managed to graduate in both Diploma and Certificate of which one hundred thirteen were males and one hundred twenty four females.
