Jacob Oulanyah, the deputy speaker of the Parliament of Uganda has handed over Shs20m to Omoro District COVID-19 Taskforce.
The event was held at Lalogi HC IV following directives by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to all members of Parliament to reconsider donatimg the money to their respective district.
The president told the MPs to give out the money to district taskforces fighting coronavirus and not keep it for themselves.
“In addition to the money I returned, I made a contribution of Shs20m to support the repair of Omoro’s many defunct boreholes,” Oulanyah said Friday.
He said water is an urgent necessity especially during this time and even though the district is working to ensure a stable and permanent solution.
“We can in the meantime find other remedies,” he noted.
The Shs10bn that parliament gave itself has since caused Speaker Rebecca Kadaga endless headaches.
