The Anti –Corruption Unit of State House working with a joint COVID19 Security force this past Saturday swung into action at Elegu border point in Amuru district and arrested several army and police personnel who tortured several women that were found holed up in a rented room during curfew hours claiming they were enforcing President Museveni’s directives to stem the spread of Coronavirus in Uganda.
On 3rd April, army and police who were on patrol stormed the rental facility belonging to Ms. Margret Auma, the chairperson for Elegu Women cross-border traders saving and credit cooperative society and rounded them up including some men in a lodge.
According to Auma, the military personnel frog matched, beat them up and forced them to roll in mud.
Women rights activist have since condemned the humiliation which has sparked national and global outrage on the rights and freedoms of Ugandans. Full Story Loading
