The number of Covid-19 cases in Uganda has risen to 14 after five new confirmed cases today.
This was revealed by Dr. Henry G Mwebesa, The Director General Health Service at the Ministry of Health.
According to Mwebesa among the five is a 57-year-old business man in Adjumani with no travel history out of the country.
He trades in salt along the border town of Elegu where he is likely to have got the virus” it’s the first time Uganda is recording a case of one who has no travel history and yet he has contracted the virus. He is currently being nursed at Adjumani general Hospital.
He also pointed to the fact that another patient is an 8-month old baby in Iganga too has now been hospitalized over the same.
The baby is believed to have contracted the virus from his father who is said to have travelled from Kisumu in kenya.
Presented with breathing difficulties and severe flu the baby was rushed to Iganga Hospital where on being tested results turn out to be positive.
Third case is that of a 56-year-old business man in Entebbe who had just return from German.
And to wrap it up is the case of two of the six chines men intercepted in Zombo. They had escaped from quarantine but unfortunately got arrest in Zombo destined for Congo. Upon arrival at Entebbe and on testing, 2 had the deadline virus.
Mwebesa urged Ugandans to continue observing the stated guidelines and above home remain at home to avoid the risk of contracting the respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus.
