History: On 13th January 2000, 58 Kony’s Captives where Release.

The Sudanese government on this date released 58 Kony captives, eight of them former students of St. Mary’s College, Aboke.

The then State minister for regional co-operation Amama Mbabazi share the news about the release as he expressed excitement that at last, victims has regained their freedom.

About 119 Aboke girls were abducted by Kony rebels in October 1996. About 20 are still unaccounted for. The captives were handed over to Unicef, a UN children’s agency, in Juba Southern Sudan.
