Gulu: Northern Ugandan People Power youth chairperson, Lucky Bosmic Otim has been arrested for allegedly staging an “illegal” rally.    

Bosmic was  picked from Cereleno market in Pece Division by heavily armed policemen under the command of John Bosco Nyangkol, the officer-in-charge of Gulu central police station.  

Bosmic was whisked off to Gulu central police station where he was charged with staging an illegal assembly.   

According to Nyangkol Bosmic was arrested while addressing vendors and youths at Cereleno market along Ring Road in Pece Division Gulu Municipality without Police clearance letter. 

He further revealed that Bosmic had a pending case after eluding arrest following another an unlawful assembly he staged at Gulu Main market on June 4, 2019, {case File – vide police file 32/04/06/2019]. The file was sanctioned by the resident state attorney.

Whereas Bosmic had eluded arrest on several occasions his accomplices including Denis Bongomin and Moses Okello were arrested, charged and remanded to Gulu prison while Otim was still at large. 

Otim survived arrest then by police after being shielded by crowds that were allegedly attending the rally. The group was protesting the endorsement of President Yoweri Museven as the sole NRM candidate for the 2021 presidential elections.
